[fw-mvc] Setting custom dispatcher in bootstrap

Is there a way to set a custom Dispatcher in the bootstrap? Since it's an object you need to pass, obviously there's no way to pass it in application.ini (or at least not that I know of). If I try $this->getResource('FrontController'), it looks like some initialization has already been done, because I get errors that it can't find the controller directory. The only way that seems to work is by cheating and calling the getInstance() method.
