Well i assume the method doesn't determine the values type by it's type in the DB. I assume it should try to determine the type by simple checks (not sure though) still that won't give you 100% guarantee as typing INTEGER, STRING in the second parameter. I might be wrong, you better wait for someone with a little more experience with it then i have.

data type? I don't want to worry about forgetting a parameter or
something - i just want to be the value to be an integer, if the
database says it's an integer - this reduces the effort of quoting etc
... and as far as i recall this used to work perfectly in one of the
earlier releases fof ZF.
